Why Greek Food is so Healthy & Delicious!
Greek food is my go-to for because Greek cuisine is packed with healthy ingredients
-
Loads of Fruits and Veggies
Greek dishes are all about fresh, seasonal produce. From tomatoes and cucumbers to peppers and spinach -
Whole Grains
Whole wheat bread, barley, and rice are common in Greek meals. These complex carbs give you lasting energy and help keep things moving with plenty of fiber. - Fish and Seafood Greek food has so many fish options like sardines, anchovies, and snapper. Seafood is great for omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for heart health and lower in saturated fat compared to red meat. Plus fish is leaner then most meat. Just make sure it’s grilled or bakes rather than battered and fried.
-
Healthy Fats
Olive oil is so common in Greek food. It makes meals tastier but it’s also the kind of oil that is healthy. It can reduce inflammation and lower your risk of heart disease. -
Legumes and Nuts
Beans, lentils, and nuts are key ingredients in a lot of Greek dishes. So you have fiber, and healthy fats, making meals filling. -
Fermented Foods
You know I love Greek yogurt for desserts and snacks. I have a few recipes in my guide, my blog and my YouTube videos using Greek yogurt. It is a great source of probiotics, which are fantastic for gut health. Feta cheese, another Greek staple, is also fermented and great for gut health.
Zephyr Notting Hill
If you’re in London one of my favourite Greek restaurants for a fun night out and a bit of romance is Zephyr. The food is delicious, ambience is gorgeous and I love how open it is so wherever you are sitting you can see the whole restaurant.
They also have amazing drinks and a very well decorated 70s style art deco bar downstairs too.
